How to create Functional Domestic Wares and Sculptural Forms on the Potters Wheel.

The fundamental gestuality of throwing different forms and different sizes shall be taught through a series of brief projects that follow on from initial practical demonstrations.

Within this intensive week we shall cover ; the wedging , centering , throwing and turning of hollow wares. The making of cylinders , bowls , cups , jugs , plates , casseroles , bottles and spouts , and pulling handles.

Through three optional and informal evening slide lectures I shall impart information and ideas focalizing particularly wheel thrown works on ;

1.  The Formation , Use , and Chemistry of Clays and Glazes.

2.  Decorating and Firing ; Processes and Possibilities.

3.  Aesthetics of Form and Function in relation  to clay type.
